Jesus had a definition for greed. He called it the measuring life by possessions. Greed equates a persons worth with a persons purse.
You got a lot---you are a lot. You got a little ---you are little,
Greed is not defined by what something costs, but what it costs you. If anything costs your faith or your family, the price is too high.
One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing. Another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth. A mans riches may ransom his life, but a poor man hears no threat.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker.
The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. But the one who is rich should take pride in his lowly position, because he will pass away like a wild flower.
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabbily clothes also comes in. If you pay special attention to the one wearing fine clothes and say,"here is a fine seat for you" and say to the poor man, "you stand there, or sit by my feet". Have you not discriminated against yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
Listen, my dear brothers, hasn't God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith, and to inherit the kingdom to those who love him?
I come on my knees, to bow down before You. Bringing all that I am, just wanting to know You. Seeking Your face and not only Your hand. I find You embracing me---just as I am.
